General description The house sleeps 4-6 persons and is situated in the heart of the village in a quiet street of five houses with no through traffic. Within 30 metres is the plaza (village square), bank, chemist, small supermarket and bars. We also offer airport transfers from Malaga, Jerez, Granada and Seville. The price is €100 per couple including two full size suitcases. Included in the price per week is electricity, linen, towels and welcome pack. Prices are for rental of the entire property which sleeps 4 - 6 persons. Click for availability calendar. Long weekends and shorter stays can be negotiated. Travel cots, high chairs and blowup beds available for hire.
Accommodation Lounge: Large lounge with wood burning stove, sofa, sofa bed, rocking chair, TV, DVD player with a large selection of DVDs available, radio CD player and a selection of books. Kitchen: Large dining kitchen to seat six people. Full electric oven and ceramic hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board, fridge freezer, washing machine. The kitchen is fully eqipped with all the utensils you require. A welcome pack is provided with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bread, jam, butter, wine, beer and cava. Bedrooms: There are two bedrooms, one with twin beds and a double bedded room. A cot is also available. Both rooms have wardrobes, drawers and bedside cabinets. All bedding and towels are provided. There is also a safe for your passports etc. Bathroom: Bathroom with full bath and separate shower, sink and toilet. There is an electric point for a shaver, a hairdryer is provided. All towels are provided. Outside spaces: Downstairs outside is a patio with mountain views, table and chairs, barbecue, flower beds and an ancient fig tree. Upstairs is a 40sq metre terrace with breathtaking mountain views, sun loungers, dining table and six chairs and parasol. Local Area Jimera de Libar: Overlooking beautiful, protected mountain scenery on the edge of the Sierra Grazalema Natural Park Jimera de Libar is in an ideal setting for a most peaceful and relaxing holiday. The property is equidistant from the airports at Malaga, Seville, Jerez and Gibraltar - all within a two-hour drive. Car hire is recommended and easy arranged at the airports. Jimera is also served by train being on the Algeciras - Bobadillas line. The local area is full of pueblos blancos, whitewashed in the Moorish tradition, with their narrow winding streets and each with their own character and history. Gastronomy: The local cooking has an important relation to the hunting period. In the spring, asparagus is the base of many culinary creations; in the winter there is honey porridge, and breadcrumbs fried with garlic. All year round there is a vinegar soup. The confectionery creations are especially exquisite, such as meringues, large rusks, crackling tarts and cakes made with oil. Festivities and traditions: The major festivities in honour of the patron saint, the Virgen de la Salud, take place in August, whereas at the end of May they celebrate a pilgrimage in the Station suburb. Easter is another festivity to bear in mind. Bars, restaurants, ventas etc: There are several good, local bars and restuarants in Jimera. On your travels around the area you will pass many roadside ventas—many offering a very reasonable menu del dia (three courses often including wine or glass of beer). The nearby city of Ronda offers all types of local and international cuisine—and at prices to suit all pockets. Swimming pool: The open air village pool that is just a 5-minute walk down the road from your accommodation. There is a full-size pool and a toddlers pool, too and also a confectionary cabin. Nearest airport Malaga (1 hr, 40 mins)		Prices per week Local Activities Things to do: Andalucia offers less organised entertainment opportunities than many other parts of Europe. However, the region provides its own entertainment: 600 kilometres of sandy beaches; huge, unspoiled natural areas and the simple pleasures of eating and drinking or just watching the world go by. Andalucía is an ideal region for camping, walking, riding and mountain bicycling, owing to the nearly 300 days of sunshine a year, a mild climate, together with extensive natural environments. Generally the environment has been kept in a good state of conservation, 17% of the land in Andalucía has been declared Nature Parks. Rural tourism has experienced extraordinary growth in recent years, due to increasing environmental concerns and a global desire to conserve and protect natural areas and rural locations. These areas are ideal for excursions, mountain bike tours or hiking but more and more people start to visit these areas also in order to discover the wildlife and vegetation as well as to deepen their knowledge about the culture and the traditions. Bird watching: Andalucía is a birdwatcher's paradise and attracts ornithologists throughout the year. The best time of the year, however, is during the spring as this is when you can see many wintering species, together with those arriving for the summer months. Not surprisingly, the Straits of Gibraltar is a key point of passage for raptors, storks and other birds migrating between Africa and Europe. Overall, northern migrations take place between mid-February and June, while those birds heading south will set off between late July and early November when there's a westerly wind. History & Culture: Andalucia, known to many as "the bridge between two continents", "the gateway to Europe", "a melting pot of cultures" or "a meeting point of two seas" fits perfectly within any of these definitions. A direct link between Europe and Africa, and the place where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean, Andalucia has been fought over by numerous cultures since the earliest times of civilization, being one of the areas of settlement of our prehistoric ancestors. The diversity of the landscapes which make up the region provides an entire spectrum: from the warm Guadalquivir valley, to leafy low mountain areas, from volcanic landscapes such as the Tabernas Desert to the white peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Photography: Spain is like several countries all rolled into one, which makes it both challenging and exiting to a photographer. Andalucia is one of Spain's most beautiful, most photographed and most inspiring locations. Walking: The countryside in much of Andalucia is breathtaking and, one of the best ways to appreciate the diversity and beauty of the natural scenery here, is on foot. Spain's Vias Verdes (green routes) are one of the lesser known attractions of its interior. Like Britain in the 1960s, Spain drastically reduced its regional railway routes and is now renovating them as hiking, cycling and horse-riding tracks. Possibly the most beautiful in Andalucia is the nearby route between Puerto Serrano, west of Algodonales on the Ronda-Sevilla road, and the former bandit haven Olvera. Mountain biking and cycling: These are viewed as both serious sports and a relaxing pastime in Andalucia. In the country as a whole, cycling is a popular competitive sport, with over 5,000 annual cycling races and events staged at all levels throughout the country. These include many professional races, such as the tour of Spain held over three weeks in April and May and the third most important world cycle race after the tours of France and Italy.
